Not recommended when the weather is lousy but a challenging hike with some scenic views. There are not 10 views. Three or four are freat. Trees block the remaining. Great half day hike.
This hike is a good leg and cardio workout. Takes from 3 1/2 hours to 5 hours depending on your speed and how long you stop. It is rated an intermediate trail and there are some steeps sections. Be careful on some of the vistas as there are some steep cliff areas. Bring water and snacks along with your camera for some great scenic photos. I prefer to start from the south end of the Buntzen Lake Parking Lot and go from south to north. Joins up with the Buntzen Lake loop to get you back. If you bring your dog be mindful of the steep cliff and bring them some water. Best to enjoy the hike on a sunny day to enjoy the views. Come early as when the parking lot is full you need to park outside the park. Enjoy.
Great hike and a solid challenge with great payoff of views of Cole Harbour. Highly recommended to do the loop as opposed doubling back the route taken to get up. Lots of beaches and park area to unwind afterwards by Buntzen Lake at the foot of the trail - pack the BBQ in the car but get there early so you can find parking in the main lot (or be prepared to walk up the road to the Buntzen Lake area)
Had a great time hiking this on the weekend. The trail starts off fairly steep from the get-go, and the section right before the first viewpoint is as steep as it gets. After that, it's just a fairly easy-going walk to the remaining vistas. The first four are the most scenic, after which you'll find most of them relatively blocked by trees. I wasn't as big a fan of where the trail begins to descend - the forest becomes a bit more sparse and brown, and it's a fairly steep descent at times. Allow 6 hours at most if you plan on stopping or having a bite to eat. If youre quick, this can be done in under 4. Definitely bring plenty of water and a few trail snacks.
very nice trail, not dificult but is a nice workout if you start from the other side of the lake jajajajaa
